Spring in Illinois was a slow process this year. The weather was relatively cool and wet through the month of May. That meant bird migration took place in slow and deliberate fashion. Warblers and other songbirds that birders crave to see hung around the woods and fields for days on end. The bright red of a scarlet tanager and the flash of a Baltimore oriole in the woods are the stuff of bird porn that birders pruriently seek…
